In the midst of 1960s Italian design, Afra and Tobia Scarpa were exploring how furniture could bring architectural thinking closer to the human body. The 925 Lounge, conceived in 1965 and catalogued as 1966, distils that thinking into a chair that feels both grounded and remarkably light. Its robust timber structure carries an anatomical seat and cantilevered back, allowing the frame to provide strength while the softer elements respond naturally to the sitter. The result is an elegant interplay of solidity and movement, where comfort is not applied to the structure, but emerges from it.
