TRACK TALK TUESDAY: What is CTS?

CTS stands for Custom Track Service—but what does that actually mean for your equipment?

A CTS inspection involves taking accurate measurements of key undercarriage components to determine their current wear levels and monitor how they are performing over time.

These measurements help remove the guesswork from undercarriage maintenance, allowing you to:
▪️ Monitor component wear
▪️ Identify uneven or excessive wear early
▪️ Estimate remaining component life
▪️ Plan repairs and rebuilds ahead of time
▪️ Reduce the risk of unexpected downtime
▪️ Make informed repair-or-replacement decisions

Regular CTS inspections also provide valuable information about how operating conditions, application and machine use may be affecting your undercarriage.

TRACK TALK TUESDAY: When should you complete a pin and bush turn?

In this week’s video, Mick talks us through the key indicators to watch on D10 and D11 tracks—and why getting the timing right matters.

As a Rule, it’s time to perform a P&B turn when one of the following occurs:

▪️ When the link height reaches 60% wear, after turn tracks can then run to120% link wear.
▪️ A shoe height of 45-50mm is the ideal time to relug back to original height.
▪️ For a D10, 6,500hrs is ideal but not more than 7000hrs otherwise the risk of excessive bush end wear for a post turn seal become too great.
▪️ For a D11, 7,500hrs is ideal but not more than 8000hrs otherwise the risk of excessive bush end wear for a post turn seal become too great.

Every machine and working environment is different, so regular inspections and accurate wear measurements are essential. Completing a pin and bush turn at the right stage wil help extend track life, improve reliability and maximise the value of your undercarriage components.

Another busy week in the Hunter Valley Tracks workshop!

Our team has been working through the repair and rebuild of a complete set of track frames, taking each assembly through the process step by step.

The track frames are carefully pulled apart so the individual components can be cleaned and inspected. This allows our team to assess wear, identify any damaged or unserviceable parts and determine exactly what is required before the rebuild moves forward.

Once the necessary repairs and component replacements have been completed, everything is carefully fitted and pressed back together. Attention to detail at every stage is important to ensure the finished track frames are reliable, correctly assembled and ready to return to work.

Track and undercarriage rebuilds aren’t simply about replacing worn parts. They’re about making informed repair decisions, completing the work correctly and helping customers achieve the maximum possible life from their equipment.

It’s another great example of the experience, precision and teamwork that goes into every job completed at our Rutherford workshop.

At HVT we are looking for a Store/Internal salesperson. The role will be full time and will involve answering the phone, quoting civil undercarriage unloading trucks and managing stock levels.

A basic knowledge of outlook, word, excel and excavators is expected. A forklift license would be nice.
