Spent hours building it… so naturally the first job was making a drawer to tidy up the Kumiko tools so they look like I know what I’m doing. Clean bench on top, fancy little drawer underneath, and absolutely zero productivity lost admiring it instead of working.
Tools are comfy. I am happy. Projects may now commence (after one more look).
So what is this used for??? My Kumiko tools minus the jigs. Thoughts on specialty drawers??

How sick is the flowing texture?? I made it match the drawers under my bench but using a different technique. On the drawer box I used a router jig to make naguri pattern. With these drawer fronts I used a dremel and texturing bit to carve each hollow. My hands hurt.
Long long long day. To do the whole pattern probably took about an hour. Check back for results.

Not bad. The second drawer to my tool chest has been a year in the making. Wasn’t in a rush at all for this. Wanted to take my time and do it properly.
For the haters… yes I put scrap down on my new bench for a glue up. So what. I spent a year building this thing and I wanna do everything I can to protect from unnecessary damage. Like getting a new car you do everything possible to avoid that first ding or scratch. But once it happens it’s like a weight lifted and you don’t mind the second the third.
Thanks to all the boomers on fb who had fun in the comments telling me it’s a crap bench and not practical.
Card scrapers? Thoughts? I found it hard to get used to but after some practice and sharpening i found it worked great on most woods.

Sore thumbs? This card scraper jig saved my thumbs from pain.
