I have been restoring and tickling up furniture for well over 30 years. I particularly love oak.

What a transformation! A small Regency style side table. Lots of sanding down to 1200 grit. Various stains and waxes to get the colour I was after. I think I achieved it. This was a lot of work but very fulfilling. One more beautifully crafted piece of furniture saved from landfill. Thankyou Mark on fb Marketplace. For sale of course.

Just finished! A very cheap auction find. I seem to be drawn to these small, octagonal deco tables. This one was interesting because of the use of pine 12 ply for the legs. The round tray at the bottom is oak and the veneer is walnut. I had to get the legs looking a bit like mahogany. A lot of trial and error but I think I got there. 10 layers of shellac on the veneer and a bit of tweaking/mixing with stain colours but I think it worked. Always learning. For sale of course, it's beautiful.

The latest restoration project. A very reasonable fb marketplace buy (thankyou Margie) This is a stunning art deco 'U base' table. The woods include walnut veneer, oak, maple, oregon and others I don't know. Cleaned right up, oiled, top shellac. It is a beautiful thing.

Restoration! A lovely little nest of Edwardian tables. These old veneers are beautiful to work with. Again took the top right back, lots of sanding and fine wire wool then 7 layers of shellac. The larger table top was warped so I had to flip it over, spread a damp towel on the inside of the top, weigh down with a flat piece of metal, pieces of an old railway line and bricks. I left to straighten for many days and job done! Stunning and for sale of course.

The latest restoration project. A beautiful Red cedar antique washstand. There was not a lot to do except to spend hours taking off the awful gloss varnish that someone had piled on, cleaned up with metho, then a lot of sanding with various grades of paper. The finish is now oil and wax. Beautiful and for sale.

The latest restoration project. Back to deco. Donna found this at auction for a small amount of money. I used fine steel wool on the base soaked in a combination of methylated spirits and tung oil. I let it dry then applied Kakadu brown wax. The top I sanded right back with an orbital sander, fine sanded by hand then applied 8 coats of shellac with a French polisher's rubber.

Found this on the weekend at a fete/market for a tenner. What a beautiful thing. 8 light layers of shellac with 1200 grit sanding between each layer. It's come to life!

I've just finished this wonderful, small oak arts and crafts table. I'd had a go at it before but it had to be completely taken apart to realign the top and do the job properly.
It's for sale at a very reasonable price and would be perfect for a 2 person dining table or for a sunroom. Dimensions are 76cms high and 90cms diameter.
Message me if you're interested, I can deliver for free (as long as it's in Sydney)
It's a lovely thing.
Cheers!
