A quick design tip from one of our team. Being able rinse scrape, and load without moving your feet makes a bigger difference than you think.

Crafted Spaces. Danish Design. Designers and builders of modern, luxury kitchens

Overlooking Cabarita Bay in Sydney’s Inner West, this renovated waterfront terrace was redesigned for an empty-nester couple who wanted their home to finally match the way they live. Designer Daniel Mazic reworked the entire spatial layout, introducing new walls, refining circulation, and carving out space for both a long entertaining island and a generous scullery within the existing structure. The result is a kitchen defined by vivid green joinery, leathered Calacatta Davinci Quartzite, fluted Tasmanian Oak detailing, and speckled terrazzo floors, all anchored by a statement curved brass rangehood set against a striking wall of veined stone.
Where traditional overhead cabinetry would usually sit, Daniel let the natural stone take centre stage, keeping the space open and the focus firmly on materiality. Behind black steel-framed fluted glass doors, the scullery runs a full suite of integrated appliances, generous prep space, and a secondary sink, keeping everyday mess well out of sight. SubZero and Wolf appliances reinforce the kitchen’s entertaining focus, while the same green joinery, brushed gold handles, and quartzite surfaces flow through to the scullery and adjoining laundry.
The kitchen features:
- refrigerator and ovens
- Tasmanian Oak underbench detailing
- Libera Kitchen Mixer Tap with Black Spring Spray
Hydrotap G5 BC Elite water purifier
Brushed handles - Brushed gold Vesio handles
- dishwasher, washing machine and dryer
- microwave
- Bay Leaf cabinetry paint (laundry)
Lights off vs lights on. Many forget that kitchen designs have to cater to both situations.
Every kitchen starts as an idea on a flat surface. This one never had a client behind it, just a design team with too much imagination and no where to put it.
Perhaps this post will help answer the question: what does a Dan Kitchens designer dream up when no one is watching?
We spend a lot of time obsessing over the details. Rendering out every feature of a kitchen to the very last detail. This render is a testament to thinking outside the box.

Not all premium appliance brands are the right fit for every kitchen. Here is a quick breakdown of the six we specify most often and what each one does best.
- Sub-Zero and Wolf for a matched suite of refrigeration and cooking.
- Miele for a consistent, well-supported range across every appliance category.
- V-ZUG if steam cooking is a priority and you want a minimal aesthetic.
- Gaggenau for architectural kitchens where the appliances are part of the design.
- Qasair if you cook seriously and want ventilation that actually keeps up.
- Liebherr when refrigeration and wine storage are the focus.
We have written a full guide covering all six, including sizing watch-outs, servicing, and how to avoid common integration mistakes.
You can check it out on the articles page of our website.
The plan for this project was to open the space up and make it more of an entertainer’s kitchen so we moved everything into a bigger adjoining area and built a scullery in the old kitchen’s footprint.
Newport - Sydney’s Northern Beaches
This project required us to knock through multiple rooms to create one big open plan space, kitchen, scullery, laundry and bar all flowing into each other.
Killarney Heights - Sydney’s North Shore.
Before it became the leafy Inner West suburb people know now. Stanmore grew around the railway and became known for its Victorian villas and Federation houses.
Part of what makes renovating kitchens in Stanmore so rewarding is that you’re often working within homes that already have a much personality
