Description:
Hand-crafted, point-to-point handwired 10W Class A/B, Hot Cathode Biased Combo Guitar Amplifier with standard Gain, Bass, Treble and Volume controls. On the rear it has a single speaker output jack, and a direct-out jack with level control for PA or recording use.
SimpleTone sports an Italian-made Jensen P10Q classic Alnico 10" 40 W 16 ohm American-voiced speaker, Canadian-made Hammond chassis, transformers and choke, vintage NOS Allen Bradley 2W Carbon Composition resistors, vintage NOS Yugoslavian Ei EL84/6bq5 power-amp valves, Tungsol 12AX7 preamp valves, and AR4 valve rectifier.
The cabinet is handcrafted from aged-reused 22mm Blackbutts timber, and the entire unit weighs around 19 kg.
This lovely open-backed guitar amplifier is sweet and bright in tone with plenty of presence and a hint of natural bite. The solid cabinet allows for a very sturdy bottom-end. It includes an internal presence circuit set to about mid-way, allowing for a very present sound without being overbearing or gaudy. The Italian-made alnico speaker encourages the bell-like tones anticipated in such a speaker. The overall tonality compares with a cross between a smaller push-pull based vintage Fender amplifier, and a Vox-AC10 or AC15.
SimpleTone was gradually built over a period of two years, with over 50 hours of labour going into its build.
