Here we have a matching stack of award-winning 1980s components from European hi-fi company NAD.

The NAD 3020 series became one of the best-selling integrated amplifiers in hi-fi history, combining understated design with great sound. The NAD 6220 cassette deck was awarded Cassette Deck of the Year in 1987, while the NAD 5420 CD player follows the same philosophy of simplicity and quality.

We’ve matched these with a Linear Design GST-1 belt-drive manual turntable and a pair of three-way speakers to make a complete system. Atop the N**s is a pair of Stax Electret Earspeakers with their SRD-4 energiser

It’s exciting when a classic audiophile system comes in to the shop.

There’s no design as iconic as these Quad ESL-57 Electrostatic Speakers and Qaud 33/303 pre and power amp combination.

The 1957 designed Quad ESL-57 speaker is still consistently ranked in the top ten of speakers ever produced. Many still regard it as one of the most natural-sounding loudspeakers ever made.

The 1970’s amplifier combination of Quad 33 pre-amp and 303 power amp is a masterpiece of understated British design but sonically has the necessary power and control to bring the best out of the electrostatic panels.

We now get to listen to this set up all day and you are welcome to come in to the shop and enjoy it too. Of course, some lucky person will be taking it home at some stage.

A beautiful piece of furniture and a wonderful sounding stereogram.

The Kreisler 11-104 or “Futureline” is a mid 1960’s stereogram featuring a valve amplifier/AM radio, a four speed Garrard automatic turntable and a pair of stereo speakers.

It has the classic “warm” sound of the era but comes with auxiliary lead so you can stream whatever you like through it.

The cabinet makers at Kreisler outdid themselves with this particular unit. Just look at the wonderful choice of reflected grain veneers across the front panels and sliding speaker covers and the fabulous single piece of beautifully grained veneer across the two lids.

In great condition for its age we have serviced and rebuilt the amplifier and turntable and are selling with a warranty. $1500

The wonderful Philips RF11 is better known as The Glidomatic and is a highly sought after example of the best of Australian stereograms of the 1960s.

In the shop today we have this unit in a gloss maple cabinet with the amazingly detailed original speaker fabric.

In the centre is a four speed auto-stacking turntable with original instructions and a new cartridge and stylus fitted.

To the right is the solid-state amplifier/AM radio driving the 6 stereo speakers and to the left is the auxiliary input panel with lead supplied.

The Glidomatic is not only a 1960s design icon but it sounds fantastic.

A little unusual for us but this is what often replaced the steregram in Australian households.

This example is an Onkyo component stack of very good quality with turntable, amplifer, radio tuner, cassette deck and 6CD player. All housed in a glass doored cabinet flanked by a pair of impressive 3 way speakers.

Produced in the late 1980’s it is still going strong. It comes with remote control, all necessary wiring and is sold with warranty. $1250

It’s been a while so we’re very happy to have a PYE “Black Box” on its original stand.

Produced in the mid 1960s these heavy, solidly built “portables” we’re very popular. Both compact and cool they pump out a surprisingly big sound for their size.

There is a 4 speed auto stacking turntable that plays 7” 10’ and 12’ records, a solid-state stereo amplifier/AM radio, a pair of fold out or removable stereo speakers and an auxiliary input (lead supplied).

This model sits on its original steel stand with chrome wire shelf. Fully serviced by us and sold with warranty. $750.

There’s some fun to be had with an early 1970s Sanyo modular.

This model DC-620 comprises a stereo amplifier with AM/FM radio and auxiliary input, a two speed semi-automatic turntable and a matching pair of stereo speakers.

This beauty looks the part and won’t break the bank. Serviced by us and supplied with all necessary wiring etc it is sold with warranty. $795

From the golden age of Japanese hi-fi we have this early 1970s Sansui system.

At it’s heart is a Sansui 5050 receiver with AM/FM radio and stereo amplifier with multiple inputs. It is driving a pair of handsome Sansui SP-70 speakers with the wonderful real timber fretwork on their fronts. The turntable is a Sansui SR-212 semi-automatic 2 speed belt drive with original cartridge to which we’ve fitted a new stylus.

The King of Kriesler’s from the 1970s.

This magnificent beast is a Kriesler “Craftsman Powersound Q4’ and was the top of the line modular of its time.

The centre unit is fitted with a German made Dual 1214 fully automatic turntable with magnetic cartridge and a solid-state amplifier/radio with multiple inputs and controls.

The stereo speakers house huge 15” bass drivers and multiple dual cone drivers for mids and highs behind the amazing “carpet” speaker fabric.

A big, solidly built unit with a huge sound to match it has been serviced by us and is sold with warranty. $2500

The Kriesler 11-102 - a prosaic name for a handsome “Multi Sonic” stereogram.

A mid 1960s classic from Kriesler Australia. The gloss chestnut cabinet houses a valve amplifier/AM radio, a 4 speed auto stacking turntable and six speakers including 12” bass drivers, and electrostatic tweeters. The sound is warm, deep and bright from record and the auxiliary input (lead supplied).
