মহান আল্লাহ বলেন,
"(তারাই পরম দয়াময়ের বান্দা) যারা মিথ্যা সাক্ষ্য দেয় না এবং এবং অসার কাজকর্মের সম্মুখীন হলে স্বীয় মর্যাদা রক্ষার্থে তা পরিহার করে চলে।"
- (সূরা ফুরকান, আয়াত ৭২)।

আবু হুরাইয়া রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু থেকে বর্ণিত, নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন,
"মানুষের মিথ্যাবাদী হওয়ার জন্য এতটুকুই যথেষ্ট যে, সে যা কিছু শোনে (বিনা বিচারে) তা-ই বর্ণনা করে।"
(মুসলিম, আবু দাউদ)।
