Basement reno update
70 year old cast iron plumbing all removed and replaced with abs. Whole lotta floor got cut to expose all the old plumbing.
I held off on framing this kitchen corner until the floor had been cut to just make sure I wouldn’t interfere with the plumbers. Today I built the massive bulkhead under all the heating trunks, and framed up all the walls to the bulkhead. Progress 😰
I want electrical rough-in complete by Tuesday of next week, with plumbing rough-in signed off so the floor can be poured and filled back in hopefully early next week.
Then, finally, insulation and drywall!

To speak to the voracity in which Silver Maples (soft maples), you can see that this one is question has gone from a 12 inch diameter to a whopping 48 inch diameter in exactly 30 YEARS! (First pic ➡️1992, second pic ➡️2022).
It would take a White Oak/Bur Oak 200 YEARS to achieve the same kind of enlargement.

I’ve been on the search for an for quite some time.
Aspen and I did a little today and found one!
Blasdell was one of the most prominent blacksmiths in Bytown through the 1840-1860s, though this isn’t a Blasdell axe head. I can’t quite make out the name.
Bytown ( ) was forged upon the lumber trade, glad to finally have a piece of that history.
