Who doesn’t love a reading chair that is welcoming and makes you stop in your tracks?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Sometimes I think about all the different chairs I’ve used in clients’ homes over the years—each one with its own details, fabric, shape, and, well, personality!

Who says a neutral palette has to be devoid of colour?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This family room is the perfect example of a space that embraces color without sacrificing the neutral palette. The green lamp, bronze vase, and the artwork all add colour, depth and interest to the space without detracting from casually layered neutrals throughout the space.

When we first met these clients, one of their requests was to use the chairs they had fallen in love with from one of my previous projects. For that project, the chairs had been a warmer beige-grey and had gold bases. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​To make the chairs the perfect fit for this living room, we used a grey fabric and cooler tone base to bring all the elements of the room together cohesively.

It’s the final touches that really pull a space together.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The items you style your tables and shelves with, the pillows you choose, even the art you hang on the wall — these are the elements that come together to create a space that is tailored to your tastes.

There’s nothing worse than a kitchen counter stool that’s uncomfortable. For these clients, I wanted to make the kitchen island a gathering place. What better way to do that than giving people the perfect place to sit?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I chose counter stools with a good seat size and a higher back, making them comfortable for the whole family to sit around the kitchen island together.

Decorating

Isn’t it amazing how a console, lamps, and fresh flowers can totally transform your entry? ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I especially love being able to include a beautiful console table when I decorate entryways, and I was especially happy when I found this one for these wonderful clients. They wanted to create a warm and inviting first impression and I think it turned out beautifully.
