For this pair of end grain boards, we began by selecting and preparing a mix of Maple, Birdseye Maple, Black Walnut, and Purpleheart—balancing tones, grain patterns, and contrast to create a layout that feels both structured and dynamic.

Before any glue hits the surface, each strip is carefully arranged and re-arranged to dial in the final pattern.

Precision in the layout makes all the difference in the finished piece.

With final sanding complete, each board is hand-finished to enhance the natural depth and contrast of the wood, bringing the Maple, Walnut, and Purpleheart to life.

Once the layout is locked in, the boards are glued up and transformed into a single, unified piece.

After curing, each board is run through our planer to achieve a perfectly flat surface, bringing the pattern into sharp focus.

Final shaping follows—clean edge profiles and routed juice grooves that add both function and refinement.

For Lincoln’s Loft, we began with beautifully figured Birdseye Maple, carefully milled, sized to spec, and prepped for assembly using our trademark nail-free joinery, now with easily-assembled (and disassembled) hardware.

Every groove, every cut, and every dimension is dialed in to match the plan—tongue and groove construction ensuring strength, alignment, and a seamless final finish.
