Run out of Lysol?
Learn how to make this DIY disinfecting spray that is all natural, non toxic, cheap, and works like Lysol.
Disinfecting and cleaning removes germs and it can further lower the risk of spreading infections like COVID-19.
It only requires 3-4 ingredients that you have to buy (but might already have on hand) and water.
Alcohol
Vodka, ya'll. Vodka is a high-proof alcohol that does a fantastic job sterilizing whatever you are spraying, but without knocking out the majority of good bacteria.
Rubbing alcohol could also be used if that's what you have.
White Vinegar
White vinegar is a beast when it comes to killing bad bacteria. The smell can be strong at first, but the vinegary smell wears off very quickly. Vinegar is also scientifically shown to kill the flu virus, which means it can be a powerful antiviral component.
Essential Oils
Essential oils offer this homemade disinfecting spray a punch of germ-killing power (that's a scientific term). Which essential oils you use in your disinfecting spray is really up to you. It depends on what scent combos you enjoy.
For me, I am loving lemon and lavender.
Ingredients you need for your DIY Disinfectant:
- 1 cup filtered water
- 1/2 cup vodka ( or rubbing alcohol)
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 15-30 drops essential oils of choice
March 2020 Coronavirus Update:

- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup filtered water
- 30 drops antiviral essential oils
Directions:
1. Legit, just pour in a spray bottle
and shake.
2. No seriously, you're done.
Top 10 Antiviral Essential Oils:
- Thieves blend
- Cinnamon
- Lemon
- Basil
- Oregano
- Peppermint
- Clove
- Eucalyptus
- Tea Tree
- Rosemary
To Use Your DIY Disinfecting Spray:
Spray any surface you want to disinfect with a fine mist and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes. If desired, wipe away any left-over dampness with a dry cloth. You can also spray it and leave it.
NOTE: I would be careful spraying anything that alcohol could destroy.
Kids Toys?
Absolutely! This disinfection spray is a great option for disinfecting kids toys.
I use this disinfectant spray on toys, toilet seats, light switches, counters, tabletops, chairs, door handles, remotes/buttons, faucets, sinks......
pretty much everywhere.
Enjoy and stay healthy!

There's something about spring that's filled with refreshing motivation!
Perhaps it's the sight of sunshine, and the bulbs sprouting in the flower beds that's given me all kinds of inspiration to declutter.

3. You love having your friends kids over for playdates, because you get the opportunity to organize after 😊.
4. Your friends think it's funny to rearrange things in your house to see if you notice ( yes I always do, lol).
5. You label everything that isn't moving.
