Do you have the tools to make a bottle stopper?
Here's what you'll need:
1. Bottle stopper mandrel 3/8 16 tpi
2. Threaded bottle stopper insert (BS-INS-10PK) or drill/tap set
3. Jacobs chuck or drill chuck
4. 33/64 drill bit
5. 2-part epoxy
6. Bottle stopper blank + kit

Ready to try turning rings?
Here's how:
1. Attach ring blank to a scrap block held in lathe chuck, using double sided tape
2. Support with live center in the tailstock
3. Turn the blank into a circle, then drill the inside diameter of the ring core
4. Remove the blank and glue in core using epoxy
5. Mount on a 7mm mandrel with plastic ring bushings and turn down remainder and finish

How to properly hold your chisel:
1. Keep the tool handle anchored against your body
2. Let the tool rest do its job (keep the tool supported by the tool rest)
3. Start with light cuts (hallow passes, listen to the cut rather than pushing harder)
4. Match the tool to the job (round cutters = sweeping cuts, square = roughing)
