A crafty maker since my teenage years, I have never stopped. By trade I am a dressmaker and have a professional background in the clothing industry. Here at the atelier my aim is to create affordable customized clothing using readily available patterns as jumping off points, accessories (think practical bags or purses etc.) as well as soft home furnishings

Before and after✨
My client loved the lovely 100% silk fabric of the long double breasted blouse but not the way that style looked on her and asked if I could turn it into a top that was more flowy and airy to wear in warm temperatures.
We landed on the for a pattern. She couldn’t be happier with the result!
Swipe to see the pattern layout on the taken apart blouse, it’s always a puzzle ☺️

This week things got a little futuristic around the studio.
I was commissioned by a medical company to develop some prototypes. These vests will go to clinical trials, the holes will hold several probes to measure patients heart rates wirelessly 😎

Must be Friday 🪡🧵…. Sewing school set up happens up to 3times a week these days. Some students bring their own machine others use the one I provide for them to learn on.

Busy days in the studio lately …. As usual a little bit of this and that, here a few snapshots 📸
- ekeing out that little bit extra from the existing seam allowance
- a new cover for an old bolster (to match a big seat cushion I made for my client a while back)
- getting the basic tools out
- shopping for buttons for a project
- making a cover for a new seat cushion for my clients mudroom
- the only evidence I have of a custom ‘cloned’ dress I made from an existing dress
- hemming a wedding skirt
- drafting a top for the brides outfit
- the “teaching“ machine has greeted a few new students lately
How is your spring going so far?

For this commission my client asked to refashion her wedding dress into a 1st communion dress for her daughter!
It came together so nicely… swipe to see a bit of how we did it..
2nd slide : the skirt was taken from the mermaid portion
The bodice was cut from the midsection and the sleeves from the lace back and shoulders.
Another commission for a project made from souvenir fabric 🙌🏻 🇫🇷
My client found the vibrant waxed fabric while visiting Paris last year and purchased it thinking that she’d love a dress made from it.
Her brief for included an inspo picture, the request for a puffy short sleeve, a fitted waist and a ruffle & POCKETS ✨.
After discussing a few pattern options we chose Vogue 2004, which required just a few modifications.
What a lovely way to commemorate a trip 💃🏻
The collar of this very beloved jacket was in a dire state when it was brought to me.
It was a little bit difficult to find a good match for the vegan leather but I’m very pleased to have found one that matches the original quit well .
Et voila, now dad can enjoy the upcoming Spring in his jacket again… I’ve been told there is a matching one for their toddler, how cute is that!

Recently I was asked to mash up a checkered jacket and shawl collared sherpa lined checkered vest (similar to the one in the picture) into a coat!
Mission accomplished = happy client 💕

It’s been a little patchy around the studio lately 😉
2 x jacket decorations added ✅
One to commemorate my clients father’s legacy in the Canadian military and thereafter, another a tribute to all her family members.
She pinned the patches into an eye catching layout and tasked me to sew them into place.

The elastic on a very beloved vintage dress had lost its stretch over the years… I removed it and added new lines of shirring and now it’s wearable again 🙌🏻
