Layering lighting over art creates a sense of intimacy with the art, and invites you to come and take a closer look. Lighting should be at least 1/2 the width of the art, and should be hung about 3-4 inches above the art. Picture lights can also be used over built in shelving to illuminate art or decor. Tuesday Tip- Placing a console behind a sofa helps to divide the room, and also hides the back of the sofa. Consoles should be about the same height or slightly lower than the sofa back, and about 2/3 the length of the sofa. Style the console with 2-3 groupings of accessories, creating different heights to add interest. If you have an open base in the console, we like to tuck a small ottoman or some baskets underneath for added texture and storage. Image

Tuesday Tip- Cool mornings have us thinking about the change of seasons. Here are some simple ways to add fall decor to your home. 1. Add some colourful fall branches, either foraged or faux. 2. Replace your pillows with textured, warm hued fabrics in shades of caramel, sage, and rust. 3. Add a cozy throw. 4. Tuesday Tip: When selecting a nightstand for your bedroom, keep in mind that the height of the nightstand should fall within a couple of inches of the height of your mattress, either higher or lower. We also recommend a 30-34" wide nightstand for a king size bed, and a 24-28" nightstand for a queen size bed. The nightstand should be proportional to the bed size. Photo@projectlakewood
