Recipe of the day: blackcurrant cordial 🍇

A refreshing non-alcoholic beverage made in Centro's kitchen, Cordial!

Ingredients:
1 kg blackcurrants
4 cups water
1 tbsp tartaric acid

Steps:
Firstly add the blackcurrant and the water to a saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring until it reaches a boil. Reduce the heat and allow it to simmer until the fruit is soft and cooked through.

Then strain the liquid through a double thickness of muslin to remove any impurities.

Add the juice, together with 1 cup of sugar for every cup of liquid, into a clean saucepan. Over a medium heat, bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to low and allow the mix to barely simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until it has slightly thickened and turned glossy.

Finally, add the tartaric acid and stir. Remove it from the heat.
Add into a container. Seal immediately, then store in a cool, dark place until needed.

Serve with sparkling water or regular and lots of ice!

Recipe of the day: Panna-Cotta

A delicious and mouthwatering dessert made in Centro's kitchen, Panna-Cotta!

Ingredients:
1 packet of unflavored gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
2 tablespoons cold water
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Syrup of your preference

Steps:
In a small saucepan sprinkle gelatin over water and let stand about 1 minute to soften. Heat gelatin mixture over low heat until gelatin is dissolved and remove the pan from heat.

In a large saucepan bring cream, half and half, and sugar just to a boil over moderately high heat, stirring. Remove pan from heat and stir in gelatin mixture and vanilla. Divide cream mixture among eight 1/2-cup ramekins and cool to room temperature.

Chill ramekins, covered, at least 4 hours or overnight.
Dip ramekins, 1 at a time, into a bowl of hot water 3 seconds. Run a thin knife around edge of each ramekin and invert ramekin onto the center of a small plate.
Garnish with syrup of your preference!
