New railing complete ✅ .
The original banister was not only very dated, the spindles were scratching posts for a number of cats 🐈 living here prior to our moving in.
They were so damaged with no possibility of saving, so we went with totally new materials.
The newel posts and handrail are custom made using solid oak purchased from our favourite wood shop finished with hard wax oil.
Bringing this old home back to life is so rewarding. ❤️

Now that both Scott and I are into oil painting something needed to be done in the studio so we can both be painting and not crowd each other.
Scott created these exceptional, very flexible wall easels. This opens up so much more floor space so we now only trip over each other once in a while 😆.
Also new is the repurposed picture frame for our oil paints.
A short walk to our favourite flea market down the street and $10.00 later we have a framed picture. Took the old art out and added boards with nails to hold our paints.
Currently waiting for a couple new lights on back order then this room is ready for some paint fun. 🤩

Look 👀 at what some fallen tree limbs can become.
While we are walking our pup along the paths we often come across branches that have fallen and been pushed aside into the bush. Little heavy carrying these home but well worth the effort.
We suspect this is butternut wood and we love the grain and natural colour.

Doesn’t look like much now, but we are excited!!! Some of this will be a new kitchen island, some will be floating shelves and some will make up part of the kitchen counter top.
Can’t wait 🥳

With winter looming in the not too distance future, Scott made a bench for me to sit when it comes time to struggle with winter 🥶 boots 🥾
We were gifted the beams from . Thank you very much. 🥰
The legs were constructed from our new favourite wood 🪵 ambrosia (wormy)maple, love the marks in the grain and maple is a very solid sturdy wood to hold up the heavy beams.
Ambrosia maple was purchased at our favourite wood shop in Kingston Ontario

Please keep swiping to see how this room originally looked when we first purchased this home.
We thoroughly enjoy upgrading and repurposing pieces to create wonderful new living spaces, all on a very minimal budget.
It has been a dream for both of us to purchase an older home and bring it back to life, all while keeping the personality and character of the home intact.
We are especially thrilled to finally have a place for our family photos that have been packed in boxes since we moved here a year ago.
The dining chairs were from my parent’s home, they had several layers of paint. We took them all apart, stripped off all the paint and sanded. Put them back together and painted and so happy with the results.
The dining table was custom made by Scott and we love it, solid Maple and will last generations.
One of our kids has already attached their name to it ❤️

Keep swiping to see what these cabinets originally looked like.
Took an overnight trip to the Muskokas to pick these up plus a truck load of other furniture and now the cabinets have a new home in Brockville.
Buying an older home can sometimes mean limited closets and storage space so these two cabinets are a relief. I can now declutter my kitchen.
Painted in Chantilly Lace white and the top reclaimed wood pieces were purchased at our favourite store Kingston Ontario.

How many shopping days till Christmas?
We absolutely love Butternut wood, not easy to find. Perfect choice for this wood turned Christmas Tree. 🎄
