A little piece of Jowsey’s history has found its way home. ❤️

A customer recently spotted this framed print in a thrift shop, recognized the Jowsey’s name, and thoughtfully brought it in to us.

Take a closer look at the lettering: “Jowsey’s Home Variety and Electric – Alberni, B.C. – Phone 413.”

Just three digits for a phone number! And a business name that takes us right back to our early days.

We believe this piece may date back to the late 1940s or 1950s, not long after Jowsey’s first opened its doors in 1947.

Nearly 80 years later, it’s pretty special to see a little piece of our history come full circle.

A heartfelt thank you to the customer who rescued this treasure and brought it home to us.

Does anyone remember Jowsey’s Home Variety and Electric? We’d love to hear your stories!

A little piece of Canadiana history available now at Jowseys!

If you know, you know. 🇨🇦

For collectors of vintage Canadian stoneware, the name Medalta needs little introduction.

And these particular pieces have an interesting connection!

Originally sourced by the HGTV production crew for Home Town Takeover in Port Alberni, these three vintage crocks have now found their way to Jowsey’s.

Produced in Medicine Hat, Alberta, between 1912 and 1954, Medalta pottery has become a collectible part of Canadian history.

We have two impressive 5-gallon crocks with lids and a 2-gallon crock, each with original markings, decades of character, and a story to tell.

Once everyday household essentials, today they’re appreciated by collectors for their craftsmanship, authenticity and Canadian heritage.

A little piece of Canadiana, with an HGTV connection thrown in.

Available now at Jowsey’s Furniture in Port Alberni.

A little drama in the background. 🍂🖤

We’ve been having some fun with backdrops at Jowsey’s!

From rich autumn colours to bold black-and-white checks, we’re experimenting with ways to give our showroom displays a little more personality.

It’s amazing how much a backdrop can change the look and feel of a furniture grouping — even when the furniture stays the same.

Two very different looks. Which one catches your eye?

🍁 Autumn forest or 🖤 Black & white checks?

Meet the Flux from Stylus. 🛋️

At first glance, it’s a clean, contemporary sofa with wide arms and a soft, relaxed look. But the video shows the part you really need to see — kick back, put your feet up and recline.

The Flux gives you that lounge-worthy comfort without looking like a traditional reclining sofa.

And because it’s part of the Stylus In-Stock Collection, there’s no made-to-order wait.

Sometimes a sofa just needs a demonstration. 😉

Come in and check out the Flux at Jowsey’s.

Helping you feel at home since 1947.
