š SEARCH UPDATE: KALIE McCRYSTAL

The dedicated helicopter search for missing Canadian mountain runner Kalie McCrystal has been suspended after extensive aerial searches failed to locate her.
Kalie, a 38-year-old athlete and lawyer from Squamish, British Columbia, was last seen above the Jean-Antoine Carrel hut at approximately 3,830 metres while continuing toward the Matterhorn summit.
Search crews examined difficult terrain on both the Italian and Swiss sides of the mountain. A smaller helicopter was used to inspect areas close to the cliffs and narrow gullies. Crews also attempted to detect a possible RECCO reflector associated with Kalieās equipment and obtain a signal from her cellphone, but neither effort produced a location.
Although the dedicated helicopter operation has been paused, local mountain guides remain alert while travelling the route. Search officials may resume targeted efforts if investigators receive new information.
Kalie had been training to complete a rapid ascent and descent of the Matterhorn by way of the Lion Ridge. She is an accomplished skyrunner with extensive experience in steep, high-altitude terrain.
