❇️Perks of Private❇️
“I feel bad asking you to do this, I’m not sure you’re allowed to?”
🙋This has been a common remark with clients/families who also have other community supports included in their circle of care. Understandably so, agencies send help for specific tasks and have to stay within the regulations and guidelines for liability purposes.
🚫 Private support does NOT mean compromising professional boundaries, but it DOES mean there is a level of communication with the client and family that allows for flexible services, and adaptability to needs and preferences.
☑️ If the request is out of my scope, I am quick to refer to the appropriate person/business for the job.
🫶A lot of my clients benefit from a multi-purpose wellness visit. This sometimes looks like helping facilitate staying on track with adequate meal preparation, following physio exercise programs that might otherwise fall at the wayside, vacuuming living-space, getting groceries, or getting out and weeding that garden together that’s long overdue.
🌻If you’re new here, Park Therapeutic encompasses non-medical, aging at home support, through Therapeutic Recreation and Homemaking services. This means that as an eldercare professional, I provide the motivation, consistency and means to help clients stick to goals and rhythms that contribute towards wellness while aging at home, wherever that might be.
➡️If you’ve been with me for some time, you’ll know that I highly encourage taking advantage of funded services for aging needs when they are granted. There are no hard feelings. I realize that my time with some families is temporary when needs are high, but I always say this is the nature of my job. That being said, I’ve loved being with long term clients and seeing them through transitions of needs and I am here for it where I can be 🤍
