The Story of Pearl’s Gem

My Mom was Pearl, my sisters and I her Gems.

For years we would imagine, dream and chat about coming together to create a shop called Pearl's Gem(s). During that first excited and ambitious conversation filled with the giddy energy that sisters share, I came up with the name and the logo, only it was supposed to be all of our gemstones sitting within that oyster that was once a home for a Pearl. Maybe one day they will join me in this adventure.

We lost our Mom almost two years ago now but she remains in our hearts and now through Pearl's Gem. I believe her spirit continues to leads me through instinct while I build my shop, just as she taught me how to create a home to share with loved ones and friends.

Fill it with things that you find meaningful and useful. Make it an expression of who you are and of where you've been.

I have been refinishing furniture for decades now mostly out of pure need and desire. Finding treasures, sometimes on the curbside and breathing new life into them with my wee Makita sander a bit of paint or stain here and there. If I couldn't buy what I wanted, I would create it.

Home is your refuge. Your special place to rest, recharge and redirect. It is where you launch from and land to everyday in this life and there is no place like it in this world.

I strive to fill Pearl's Gem with treasures that you too can find useful and meaningful so that you can create your special place to launch into life from every single day.
