Is quartz better than granite? In our opinion, we think quartz outperforms granite in the maintenance aspect. In fact, we are doing more quartz countertops than granite countertops because there is higher demand for quartz than granite.

Is Granite Heat & Scratch Resistant?
Yes, granite is both heat and scratch resistant. Granite is formed by extreme heat and pressure, combined beneath the earths crust. It can not be affected by heat from a cook top or frying pan. A lit flame placed under the granite will have no melting effect and will not leave any burned or scarred marks. In addition, granite is harder than your knife blades and will dull them quickly if you use the countertop as a cutting surface. Always cut on a cutting board. Granite, hot pots & stains.

Quick Tip for Removing Stains From Granite
The best way to remove any stain from granite is to use a poultice.
Else try this:
Create a paste from 2-3 tablespoon of dish soap (it has grease removal ability as well), one cup of flour and enough water to make a thick paste. Apply 1/4" inch thick directly to the stain, cover with plastic wrap and leave undisturbed overnight. The plastic wrap should be type so that is tightly sealed.
