September has a way of making us feel like we need to get back to everything... all at once. 🍂

What should pelvic floor recovery actually look like after birth? 🤍

For those first few weeks, the priority is exactly what you might expect: recovery, rest and healing.

Depending on your individual recovery, your pelvic floor physiotherapist may introduce some gentle exercises to help reconnect with and “wake up” those muscles; but this isn’t the time to rush back into your pre-pregnancy routine.

Around the 6-week mark, a pelvic floor assessment can help us understand how your body is recovering. We may look at pelvic floor tension, core and pelvic floor strength, and what needs a little extra support before gradually progressing your exercises.

The goal? To rebuild strength and confidence so you can eventually get back to running, lifting, Pilates, workouts... or whatever movement makes you feel like YOU again.
