What better way to wrap up for the holidays than with a pine themed post!
This 100+ year old pine cabinet was previously finished with pine tar(??!!) many decades ago and the client had attempted to strip it on her own. She gave up early on and brought it to me.
She still wishes to apply the finish so my task was to fully dismantle it, strip it inside out and sand it smooth. Then I reassembled it, minus the doors.
It’s ready to go home and receive its final touches.
Amazing how light the wood came out! It’s got plenty of character left, including the original hand cut nails.

This adorable little table sat neglected and ignored for years, destined for the bin, until my client claimed it from a family member.
She brought it to me in the hopes that something could be done to save it. I said Absolutely!!
A little stripping here, a little sanding there, removing the damaged veneer and applying a faux burled walnut finish achieved with stain on the top, some glossy polyurethane and voilà!
Her beauty and charm are once again restored. She’s now a beautiful heirloom ready to take pride of place in her new home.

The ugly, unglamorous part of my job. If I started a swear jar, It would already be full.

These may look like run of the mill dressers, but they are a client’s heirloom bedroom furniture, built by her father many years ago. It was her furniture when she was young, then her daughter’s after that.
Today it’s destined for its third generation of love and her soon to arrive grandchild.
The dated honey oak finish was completely stripped and updated with a new finish in Varathane True Brown and multiple coats of custom toned Varathane semi gloss polyurethane.
The feet on both pieces had rotten away from years of storage in a garage. The damaged portion was cut off, and I added trim and proper feet that were stained to match.
Not only does it give the dressers more stability and facilitates moving them around, but it gives them a modern look and feel.
Ready to go home and take pride of place in a new baby nursery.
Another baby deadline met! I haven’t missed one yet. 🤞🤞🤞
