Hey look- a floor! Now, to add bridging spanning between the beams, sheath below, put in insulation, and then sheath above in 3/4 t&g plywood.

Powering through 🔋 building off-grid requires a lot of battery powered tools, and a generator. We had an incredible week! The 300lb beams are now in place- and the floor joists starting to go in. Using hangers has allowed us to keep the floor as low as possible to the (eventually adjoining) log cabin. We’re grateful to Brad and his crew for helping mentor us through this process.

12,000lbs towed across the frozen lake in February ☃️ Harrison designed these incredible “sleighs” from UHMW polyethylene, which allowed us to haul several trips with building supplies directly to site— up a winding 300’ trail with undulating terrain. Now, we get to unwrap the materials to construct the floor and walls for the clients 20x40’ addition. I’m eagerly learning the new skill of framing, and so happy to get to work alongside the man of my dreams. 🥰 cannot wait for the next chapter!

Completed cottage kitchen 🌻 featuring 14” wide, old growth pine doors from Harrison’s grandmother’s farmhouse.. I counted 87 years of growth. Simple wood turned legs elevate the cabinets without the need for kick plates. Hand cut dovetail spice rack with an up-cycled door keep spices in the dark until they’re ready to be used. Steel with a black patina surround the fireplace and backsplash. This kitchen has tons of storage, and you cannot beat that view.
