Root + Revival

Not so little anymore! Rufus is learning the ropes in the workshop and helping me with some restoration commissions.

Puppy is napping after spending last week settling into life here now that our road trip adventure is complete. So it was back to the garage and digging through my storage shed to see how I could use what I currently have on hand to continue setting up my space.

Is it perfect. No! I hope to replace the tables with more “permanent” fixtures, but this will do for now.

I still have lots of pieces to revive, these are some that are beautiful all on their own. Furniture will make its way in slowly too.

We’ve had a lot of changes in the last few years and have a busy summer ahead. This space and Root + Revival will be a slow growth. But sometimes things done slowly are the best. ❤️

All the pieces on this table were thrifted or antiqued. Some pieces came with me from NY while others I found right here in Nova Scotia! Beautiful pieces full of history and made to stand the test of time exist right here in our own backyard! But it takes time. You don’t often find it all at once.

And here’s the thing. Your busy!! You don’t have time to visit all the yard sales, estate sales, antique shops and markets. Or maybe you do! But you get overwhelmed by all the other stuff. Or maybe you see the piece and say “I don’t know what I’d do with that.”

This is where I can help! Creating a collection can take a little longer then ordering online, but I’ll do the hunting for you and create you a table scape or find those unique decor pieces and furnishings that make your soul just feel happy.

Green velvet, lots of cushions and black walls.

With the move of the playroom we ended up relocating my husband’s office to that room and will be doubling it as a guest room. Which left his former office space at the front of the house needing a new direction.

The space is on the smaller side and already has a wall of built in bookshelves. I’ve always wanted a reading room but we still needed another guest bed.

When I found this beautiful velvet trundle bed it was the perfect solution. It gives that old world library charm, a cost space to curl up and read and two additional sleeping spots!

Well it didn’t last 🫣🫣🫣🫣

These are the challenges of new homes. You think you’ve got it, then you sit with it for a while and realize it’s just not right. And that’s ok!

We realized the playroom was better suited closer to my studio to help me with the short school days 🫠

Meanwhile what was the playroom will become my husband’s new office space and double as a guest space.
