If you live in a modern home in Vancouver or Lower Mainland with a glass staircase, babyproofing can feel like a challenge—especially when it comes to installing a safe and secure baby gate. At Vancouver Baby Proofers, we specialize in custom babyproofing solutions that protect your little ones without compromising the aesthetic of your home.
Glass stair railings and frameless balustrades are beautiful—but they’re not designed with curious toddlers in mind. Unlike traditional staircases with solid posts, glass railings often lack the stable anchor points required by standard baby gates.
This makes DIY baby gate installation difficult—and potentially unsafe.
As Vancouver’s trusted babyproofing specialists, we’ve seen all types of modern staircases, and we know how to install baby gates that are:
- Secure and safe
- Non-damaging to glass or finishes
- Removable when no longer needed.
🛠️ Why Professional Baby Gate Installation Is Essential
Installing a baby gate on a glass staircase isn’t just about safety—it’s about engineering a solution that works for your home. At Vancouver Baby Proofers, we;
- Recommend the safest, least invasive gate options
- Offer custom fabrication if needed
- Ensure all gates meet safety standards
Trying to DIY a baby gate on a glass staircase can lead to unstable gates, scratched glass, or worse—gaps a toddler could get through.

It’s Baby Safety Month!
Keeping our homes safe for everyone, especially little ones, is a top priority. Did you know that securing your furniture with wall anchors can prevent serious accidents? Securing furniture with wall anchors:
👶Prevents Tip-Overs: Heavy furniture and other furniture can easily tip over if climbed on. Wall anchors ensure everything stays upright and secure.
👶Protects Children: Kids love to explore and climb. Anchored furniture keeps them safe from falling items.
👶Peace of Mind: With your furniture securely anchored, you can relax knowing your home is a safer place.
Install wall anchors on bookcases, dressers, TV stands, furniture with drawers, and any tall furniture. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in safety! 🛠️👶 To learn more, visit AnchorIt.gov

As a parent, ensuring your home is safe for your little ones to grow and explore is a top priority. While most parents are installing baby gates, outlet covers, and safety locks, certain crucial baby proofing measures are often overlooked.
Here are some of Vancouver Baby Proofers tips to address frequently forgotten babyproofing measures:
Cable, Wire, and Cord Management
Cables, wires, and cords can be found everywhere around the house – whether for our free-standing lamps or tucked behind the TV stand – they pose a significant risk to curious toddlers such as choking hazards and electrical dangers.
Before you know it, your toddler is going to be crawling into spaces and managing to reach things you didn't think possible. Products such as cable covers for your floor, cord shorteners for your blinds, or secure power strips for desks and TVs can all significantly reduce the risk cables, wires, and cords impose in your home.
Secure Furniture
Whether your toddler is climbing on furniture or even attempting to reach something on a shelf without a stable arrangement, we tend to underestimate how easily unsecured furniture can tip over and cause serious injuries.
Anti-tip straps or brackets anchor furniture such as bookshelves, dressers, or cabinets to the wall, preventing the furniture from tipping over as your toddler attempts to explore it.
Adapt Forms of Storage
An overwhelming number of parents have said that their biggest miss in baby proofing was accounting for just how much was truly in reach of their crawling toddler. Open-faced shelves will be emptied in seconds and the shoe rack will be inspected (keep in mind - babies put everything in their mouths).
With a curious toddler roaming around, it may be time to reconsider certain forms of storage. Transitioning to drawers and cupboards that can be secured with safety locks is an easy way to keep unwanted items out of your little ones' reach.

Securing televisions in your home is another crucial aspect of toddler safety. Televisions can pose a risk of tipping over, which could result in injuries to curious little ones. Here are a few tips to mitigate this risk:
➡️ A highly rated TV mount can be used to secure your televisions to the walls of your home above the reach of toddlers.
➡️ If it’s not possible to mount the television to the wall, anchor it using anti-tip straps. This can prevent it from falling even if a toddler tries to climb your entertainment center. Anchor your TV stand, too.
➡️ Lastly, keep remote controls, toys, and other items that might attract a toddler’s attention off the TV stand. This is to discourage them from climbing or reaching for things near the TV.

1. Never leave candles unattaneded.
2. Don't overload electrical cords or strips.
3. Decorate with children in mind.
4. Keep alcohol out of reach (at your homes and others!)
5. Remove bags, ribbons, bows, and plastic - babies would love to play with these but they are a danger!
6. Hide magnets, buttons and batteries. We know how toddlers love to explore with their mouth.
