We sat down with the Mehler Textile Factory – Germany's oldest cloth factory, in operation since 1644.
What surprised us most: it's not the history that drives them. It's everyday life.
"I don't walk in here and think, 'These are special walls.' It's just business as usual."
Fabric is made entirely in-house at Mehler, from raw wool to finished cloth. Every decision is made not for quick profit, but for the decades ahead – because, as they put it, they see themselves not as owners, but as stewards.
