PP Møbler Fine furniture, handcrafted by cabinetmakers in Denmark since 1953. The world-famous Danish designer, Hans J. Wegner is very much in focus at PP Møbler.

PP Møbler is a family owned Danish joinery workshop, established in 1953, with a strong tradition for crafting design furniture of high quality. Motivation has always been the love of wood and a stubborn belief that technique, ingenuity and craftsmanship can be combined in the strive for quality. Nevertheless, other designers have also made contributions to our production. Many of these designers are nationally and internationally acclaimed, but we also keep an eye out for new talents. The differences between the individual designers are easy to spot. However, central to all in their cooperation with PP Møbler is their exploration of the possibilities of wood.

Each length is carefully tensioned and woven by hand around the circular frame, following its geometry with precision. The process requires patience and a practiced hand to achieve an even tension throughout.

Hans J. Wegner gave the Valet Chair a purpose beyond seating. The backrest is carefully shaped to hold a jacket, while the seat can be lifted to reveal a discreet storage space beneath. Each function is resolved within the construction itself, reflecting Wegner’s ability to combine practical considerations with exceptional cabinetmaking.

The Cow Horn Chair is shaped around one of Hans J. Wegner’s most characteristic approaches to construction. The back and armrests are made from two substantial pieces of solid wood, joined at the centre with contrasting wood tenons. What began as a solution to a demanding joint became an essential part of the chair’s expression, revealing both the construction and the craftsmanship behind it.

Created for Hans J. Wegner’s own dining room in 1965, the Minimal Chair is an exercise in reduction. Stainless steel forms the refined frame, while solid wood is reserved for the part closest to the body, the continuous armrest and backrest. At its centre, the characteristic cross joint brings the two sides together, creating a precise structural detail that has become an essential part of the chair’s expression.

The Valet Chair reflects Hans J. Wegner’s ability to turn the routines of everyday life into thoughtful furniture. Its sculpted backrest is shaped to hold a jacket, while the seat provides a place to sit and can be lifted to reveal a discreet storage space beneath. Each function is integrated into the construction, giving the chair its distinctive character without adding anything unnecessary.

The joints of the Round Chair reveal much about Hans J. Wegner’s approach to furniture making. Rather than concealing the construction, the meeting between the backrest and armrests is treated as an essential part of the design. Each joint requires exceptional precision as the individually shaped pieces of solid wood are brought together to form one continuous, flowing curve. What appears effortless in the finished chair is the result of demanding cabinetmaking and a deep understanding of the material.
