🍲 What if the food you rescue could feed a neighbour too?
Hi everyone 👋
We’re Leftovers, a small social enterprise in Copenhagen with a simple idea:
What if we made it easier for people to cook for the people around them?
We’re looking for people who love cooking, sharing food and building community to become cooks on Leftovers.
The idea is really simple: commit to just one day a week, cook what you would normally cook, make a couple of extra portions, and share them with people living nearby.
And there’s an interesting connection with food rescue ♻️
If you pick up surplus groceries through Foodsharing Copenhagen, Madboks or other food rescue initiatives, you could use those ingredients to make a few extra meals and share them with neighbours who might otherwise order takeaway.
Instead of surplus ingredients becoming waste, they become a home-cooked meal for someone nearby.
We’re trying to create a more local alternative to online food delivery: no delivery drivers travelling across the city, less unnecessary packaging, and food cooked by someone who actually lives in your community.
And there’s a nice benefit for the cook too: you can earn a little flexible income from food you’re already cooking, without becoming a professional chef or running a food business.
🌱 For cooks
We’re currently asking new cooks to:
• Commit to sharing on one day per week
• Ideally share just 2–5 portions of something you’re already cooking
• List it on Leftovers a few days beforehand
• Choose your own price, pickup time and whether people collect or eat with you
• Cook from your own home, using food you already have
🎁 We’re also offering:
25 DKK meal credit when you share your first meal
+50 DKK meal credit when you share 5 meals in a week
+100 DKK meal credit when you share 20 meals in a month
And for the first 100 cooks who regularly share through Leftovers, we’re offering founding ownership in the platform.
🍛 Or simply come and eat!
You don’t have to cook to be part of it.
Leftovers also lets you discover affordable, authentic home-cooked meals being made by people living near you — potentially food from cultures and family recipes you wouldn’t otherwise get to experience.
We’re still early and building this community in Copenhagen, so we’re especially interested in meeting people who care about food, sustainability and their local community.
If you love cooking and like the idea of making a few extra portions for someone nearby, we’d love to have you ❤️
