Thinking of buying a home in France, or already own one but live abroad?

One aspect of renovating a French property that’s often overlooked is finding reliable artisans who can work with you remotely.

People who understand your project, explain the work clearly, provide realistic timelines and keep you informed, even when you’re thousands of miles away.

Over the last eight years, we’ve worked with international homeowners who have trusted us to restore their floors without ever meeting us in person.

Because a great restoration isn’t just about the finished floor. It’s about the confidence you have in the people looking after your home.

That’s something worth considering before you start your renovation.

You can see a wide range of our projects on our Ytube channel Parfait Parquet

The final phase of Cognac Meukow restoration project has been completed. The Grand salon a very technical stage of this project. As the floor was covered with glued carpet and self leveling cement.

It took nine days to complete the restoration for a room of 55m2 gives you an idea of the amount of work required to reach this outcome.

Our clients where extremely happy with the outcome because it saves the history of the house instead of replacing the floor.

Restoration it’s brings a smile when you see the outcome of saving history and making another French room to become a home again.

Good afternoon. Today I’m pleased to share the first piece of furniture to leave my workshop in two years: a handcrafted solid red oak living room table.

After two years focused on parquet, it’s a pleasure to be making furniture again.

This piece combines clean, contemporary lines with the warmth and character of natural oak. Each board was selected for its colour and grain, creating subtle changes across the tabletop. The open frame legs keep the design visually light, while a soft satin finish brings out the timber’s detail.

Made by hand in my workshop in Blanzay, France.

Dimensions: 120 cm long × 72 cm wide × 50 cm high.
Price: €800.

If you’d like to make this piece part of your home, please send me a message.

Transforming your parquet from old and tired to restored and improved.

When you see the photos below remember this floor is original to the Chateu and over 150 years.

Some artisans said remove it 👎🏼

Some lay a new floor on top of it 👎🏼

I said let me restore it instead

It keeps the history of the house intact
It cheaper than the other options

For me it’s what any French Château or home deserves.

If it’s possible then save it over replacing it.

Every restoration project starts with an assessment

So today I arrived home from my three day trip to assess and restore one library oak parquet.

As I suggested to restore one room first while carrying out a full assessment of the remaining floors. It’s a key part of how I approach restoration requests

The original photographs suggested some repairs would be needed, but photographs only tell part of the story. Old pine floors must be assessed in person before I can provide an accurate recommendation.

That proved to be essential.

During the assessment, I discovered extensive Capricorn beetle damage. In one room, the floor was beyond restoration, so I recommended replacement rather than attempting a repair.

Imagine if I had priced the project from photographs alone, only to arrive on site and discover that one of the floors couldn’t be restored. That wouldn’t be fair to the client, nor would it allow me to deliver the standard Parfait Parquet is known for.

This is why I always recommend an on-site assessment, especially for older pine floors.

An assessment is about far more than measuring square metres or preparing a devis. It confirms whether a floor is suitable for restoration, uncovers hidden problems before work begins, and ensures my recommendations and quotation are based on evidence—not assumptions.

For long-distance projects, restoring one room first also allows clients to experience my workmanship while I assess the rest of the property.

A good assessment protects the client, protects the project, and leads to a more accurate outcome for everyone.

A devis should be based on evidence, not guesswork.
