Le French Cottage

iberty, of my adult age. It was on the top of an old four levels building, under the roof surrounded by my neighbors’ attics. I had like 160 square feet. But I loved it! I repainted the ceiling, the wall, I put wood floor and changed the lights. At the end, it was my nest. From place to place, I had to add a little something to make it more « me ». Both by the furnitures, the decor or the paint on the wall. I would see the potential and take places that no one else would want, and make it priceless. So when my husband and I moved together, he realized that I could not stay in a place without doing the same as back to France. Not with painting though (there is no rental that agrees on this), but the furnitures, the picture frames… when I found out that you guys change the decor for each season, I can’t explain how excited I was. To furnished our place, I was at first shy and relay on Jordan (my hub) to take care of what we should by or not. But then we moved in our first house. Jordan would just built whatever I would ask him to, or redo furniture the style that we both liked. By seeing me caring a lot about making us comfortable in the house as for our friends and family, he told me that I was a home maker. That we should do something about it. I was so not convinced then! Really scared actually. He told me that we should start by redoing furniture. I did not know how, or by what started. I would have spent hours of thinking if he did not start immediately. « We just have to do it » he said. Man I was so mad to look at him taking a step of faith. Because for me it was a step of madness. And then I saw the result of his work. So I bought my first project. He taught me about sanding, priming, gun spray, top coat… I watched a ton of videos to bring more details, to get inspired and find my own way to get things done, and to bring my French touch. It is after my first piece of furniture that I really get more confident and let my creativity running around. It is not just about furniture anymore, but home design. Creating the decor that fit in your personality. You know, when Jordan asked me to write about our adventure, I did not know what to say. Everything came from him. So I asked him « why did you start it? What pushed you to create Boutique Embrassée? » He said: « you were not happy and I wanted you to be. So I gave you a purpose ». I cried because he was so right. There is no better purpose in life to do what is inside of you and steward it for others. Yes I know, he is wonderful. I love him so much.
