Recognized by his peers as a bold designer, Christian Adam created highly modern furniture and seating, always imbued with great elegance. He constantly explores the possibilities offered by new materials that came onto the market in the 1960s, such as polyurethane foam, which he worked with like a sculptor. These armchairs, with their gentle curves, have organic or geometric forms.

Mirrors occupy a central place in Léopold Gest’s work. Available in all sizes and as tabletop, hanging, or freestanding models, they reflect a constant exploration of the balance between metal structure and reflective surface. Jean-Louis Avril, born in 1935 in Saint-Nazaire, is a French designer and architect renowned for his bold approach to materials and forms. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in architecture, he quickly became close to innovative architects and designers who nurtured his taste for experimentation. From the mid-1960s onward, he explored the possibilities of lacquered cardboard, transforming it into sculptural and functional furniture, giving rise to iconic pieces such as the Bonga chair , desk sets and children’s seating, as well as a coffee table presented at the 1967 Montreal World’s Fair. His light, minimalist, and original creations reflect the spirit of innovation and freedom of the post-war boom years. Even today, they bear witness to a formal and material exploration that places Jean-Louis Avril among the singular figures of post-war French design.
