Our Football Memories Group returns this Friday after a month off in January. As it is Scottish Cup Weekend coming up we are going to be having a trip down Scottish Cup memory lane.

We’ll be looking back over some of the most memorable finals and reliving some of the biggest shocks over the years and getting people to share their own Scottish Cup memories. We’ll finish the day by showing some footage from some Finals over the years. And of course we will be having our ‘half time’ Pie & Bovril (or tea & coffee)

Open to all, why not pop along and join us, just send us a message or e-mail to let us know you are coming so we can ensure there is enough pies. Event is free but we welcome donations to help cover costs and ensure we can keep providing as best an experience as possible for everyone.

What a lovely thing for his family to do in his memory, and many local families will now be helped because of their generosity ♥️♥️♥️

Back in February we were contacted by the family of Alastair Quinn who had sadly passed away, the family wished to hold a collection for an Airdrie charity at his funeral and very kindly choose ourselves.

Alastair or Al was born in Airdrie and was a pupil of Airdrie Academy, he went on to study at Glasgow University and after graduating his work took him to London where he would meet his future wife Angela, the couple went on to start a family and despite a strong bond with his hometown of Airdrie he would remain south of the border happy with his family. He always kept his connection with the town however with a group of school mates who remained best friends over the years.

And clearly Al’s love of his hometown of Airdrie was passed on to his family as it was here they wished to raise money in his memory after his passing, and thanks to his family and friends they have raised a fantastic sum of £1337.85. It goes without saying we are incredibly grateful for this amazing donation but also very humbled at the love shown in memory of a proud Airdrieonian which will in turn help dozens of local families and individuals in Al’s hometown.

To all of Al’s family and friends you have our heartfelt thanks to have chosen Diamonds in the Community to honour a very proud Airdrieonian. We may never have met him but we certainly will remember him.

THANK YOU❤️

Tuesday Gratitude and the start of something beautiful 😍

Huge thanks to Lynn Maud Black, Garry Hutton and the rest of the team at the LOVE Group for their continued support by sponsoring our forthcoming Take That tribute night.

The assistance, support and advice provided by Lynn to Diamonds in the Community has been huge over the last two years. It's fair to say we may not still be around hadn't it been for her.

She is the CEO and Garry is the MD of the LOVE Group - an amazing organisation. One of the many projects they have is Gorgie Farm, an urban farm based in Edinburgh, and which will now be a KitAid drop off for the East of Scotland. A perfect collaboration of 3 different charities working together.

We also hope to take some of the families we help up to Gorgie for day trips over the next lot of school holidays.

LOVE is a one-of-a-kind social business that funds its outreach charitable services - such as education and social care - through corporate services, such as wellbeing or professional training. They are different to other outreach providers in that they identify gaps in existing services, and tailor their outreach to the needs of each individual. For example, they deliver services to vulnerable people with 24/7 crisis care where standard services operate during office hours only. Their outreach services include education support, employability, sport and physical wellbeing, and social care, while their corporate services include professional training and recruitment. LOVE are motivated by their drive to bring love back to social justice, inclusion and wellbeing. By identifying gaps and raising standards in Care & Education or outreach, they have developed a disruptive model that identifies opportunities to support vulnerable individuals who would otherwise have limited or no access to the services they need.

We are really excited about this development, and hugely grateful for their continued support.
