A timely reminder to remember the safety glasses when using the strimmer - it could make all the difference!

Yesterday I took my little 1hp grass trimmer out of the shed because despite the drought here the grass just keeps growing and the edges of our yard looked a bit unsightly. I cleaned the spark plug, made a fuel mixture, pressed the fuel pump 6 times and wanted to start the engine. But my wife came out with safety glasses and insisted I should wear them. I thought I would look silly wearing them just to cut some grass around the house with the smallest machine in my tool shed. "It's struggling to cut the grass blades, I don't think it has enough power to shoot stones at my face..." Needless to say, wife persuaded me (it probably helped when she said I look irresistible when I gear up), and after a few hours I was greteful that she did! All I heard was a loud bang when a big stone hit the glasses. It doesn't look much, but these plastic protective glasses probably saved my eye. I've had them for 12 years and they got hit hard before but this was the first time something actually left a mark!
Moral of the story: always wear protection and always listen to your wife!

Hey folks, does anyone in Kincardine have a petrol lawnmower they don't use? Would you like to donate it to the community garden?
