β¨οΈ Before and after: a rare and beautiful early 19th century French perfume bottle casket. Stunning original painted silk on the front. Sadly the painted silk panel that would have originally been on the lid is missing, and only a shadow of what was originally on the lid remains. Beautifully detailed brass handles, now repaired and re-attached. The plain silk around the sides and back were so thread bare and damaged (see before photos), now replaced with a matching fabric. This would have been a stunning casket in a pale lime green with contrasting brass details, alongside the fantastic hand painted silk. Now Beautifully time-worn condition and sympathetically restored. Still very fragile but stable enough to use and enjoy. Original lock, no key, original handles, hinges, brass bun feet, and lovely mother of pearl escutcheon. Beautiful hand painted details. πΈ π¦

Finally finished: wait for the hiden surprise! π€« A vintage jewellery box that had seen better days. The thin leather covered exterior had extensive damage and was completely missing on the lid. I started by carefully restoring the dry and scratched leather exterior using a saddle soap. Some colour matching with acrylic paint only where there was areas of loss. Leather cream was used to nourish the dry leather using an oxblood red to match. Each stage was left to completely dry. Finally, the leather was given a polish, again in oxblood red. The scratches are always going to be visible, but this is part of its story. β¨οΈ
