We’ve been delighted with the response so far to Greg’s pantry – but the interiors hide a bit of a secret he’d asked us to work on – something that had us scratching our heads a bit, as it’s not something we’ve ever done before, or seen anything quite the same – in the way we were hoping to do it – we don’t mean to be cryptic – but Greg wanted to showcase it first, but we’re excited to share it with you as a good example of just what bespoke means to us here at Heaven and Stubbs.
In tailoring, the word ‘bespoke’ would come from when a bolt of cloth was chosen by a customer, it was literally ‘spoken for’ and reserved exclusively for them.
And tailoring actually works we think too, when thinking of what ‘bespoke’ truly means and in the world of ‘Saville Row’ a fully bespoke suit, is one that is made, in every detail… for that customer specifically… from the cut, the drape… every detail – across many fittings, is painstakingly made creating something entirely unique.
There’s also suits that sometimes get called bespoke, but are more ‘made to measure’… where a tailoring houses particular cut, is retained, and simply adapted for the measurements for the individual.
The end result of course is still a wonderful suit… but there’s differences.
At Heaven and Stubbs, bespoke means everything is tailored to you… if you’d like us to find a way to add pink flamingos to your doors, we will (though we might advise you think carefully about it first). It’s more than just having a different handle, or colour or door profile… it’s creating something completely unique, with solutions specific to you and your home that turn it into something perfect, just for you.
It also takes time, skill and effort… just as this piece for Greg has taken, but the end results make it all worth it!
