There are two schools of thought when it comes to speaker stand design. High mass gets the headlines, heavy, sand-filled columns built to soak up resonance. But mass doesn't remove vibration, it just delays it, storing energy and releasing it late.
The other approach is low mass and high rigidity. Built light enough that energy passes through and dissipates almost instantly, rather than being stored and released back into the sound.
