It’s one of those spaces you don’t always think about first, but quickly wonder how you ever lived without.

For our client who can never have too many books. This floor-to-ceiling bookcase makes the most of the room’s height, giving a growing collection plenty of space without taking over the rest of the room. The rolling ladder keeps the highest shelves within reach, while the dark finish turns the books themselves into part of the room’s character. A proper home library, made for losing an afternoon in.

Coming home feels a little easier when everything has somewhere to go. Tall coat storage keeps jackets and bags out of the way, while built-in seating gives you somewhere to stop and take shoes off. Wicker baskets underneath keep the everyday clutter contained before it reaches the kitchen. A hard-working space that quietly helps the rest of the home stay organised.

Tucked beneath the curved ceiling, this utility makes use of an awkward part of the room and turns it into somewhere that can properly support day-to-day life. The sink, worktop and storage all sit neatly into the footprint, giving laundry, cleaning and the messier jobs a place to happen away from the main kitchen. It’s the kind of space you really appreciate on the busy days, when keeping everything else clear makes home feel that little bit easier.

Good cabinetry often solves the tricky parts of a room before you even notice them. Tall storage makes use of the height, while a pantry with bi-fold doors keeps everyday ingredients and smaller appliances close without leaving them on show. An old fireplace position has been given a new purpose with fitted storage, and alcove joinery helps those smaller spaces work harder instead of being wasted. It’s the kind of planning that makes the kitchen feel easier to live with, because every part of the room has somewhere to work.

A Georgian townhouse kitchen should feel like it belongs there. Hand-painted shaker cabinetry in Little Greene’s ‘Pleat’ gives the room a softer, traditional feel, while oak drawers and a suede-finish Sensa worktop bring warmth and texture into the everyday. The large island keeps the space social, with plenty of room for cooking, gathering, and the usual family routines that happen in between.

Just off the kitchen, this utility and boot room was designed to take care of those everyday moments, keeping everything organised before the rest of the house. Thoughtful storage keeps clutter out of sight, making rushed mornings feel calmer and coming home that bit easier.

Working to Grace's designs from Studio Rey, we created this space as part of a new build near Bath, carrying the same considered feel as the kitchen with bespoke handles and a clean, understated finish.
