A couple of groups completed this afternoon in time for Remembrance Sunday.

Working this week on all those promised completion before Sunday.

Unfortunately many missed the boat this year - we’ve tried to be clear on our website what our estimated turn around times but it’s impossible for us to be able to work on every request, and it’s not fair on the team to expect them to work overtime fulfilling late or last minute requests. Thankfully our clients have all been extremely understanding, and we really appreciate it.

Our waiting list continues to operate all year round to keep everyone on a first come first serve basis, the form to join can be found on our website.

Example of Staybrite / Lacquer clear coating. You can see where the lacquer has oxidised and turned dull and brown. You can see where parts of it have been removed by polishing but it’s impossible to get this out of all of the details, rim and the suspension bar. The only way to completely remove this is by taking the whole medal off the ribbons and leaving it to soak in acetone, which is not something that’s easily done at home. Unless the coating is removed, your medals are impossible to polish to a good standard. These coatings are sometimes applied without the owner being asked, and sometimes people have paid additional costs (per medal) for this coating. You’re effectively having your medals varnished!

Unfortunately there are some circumstances where we have to charge extra to restore these medals.

Please, I urge you to reconsider accepting the Staybrite / lacquer service.

At LincsMilA, cleaning and polishing medals are all part of the court mounting process and costs unless otherwise requested ✨

Trio of miniature medals featuring US Bronze Star with “V” device. 🎖️

“The “V” device is worn on decorations to denote valor, an act or acts of heroism by an individual above what is normally expected while engaged in direct combat with an enemy of the United States, or an opposing foreign or armed force, with exposure to enemy hostilities and personal risk.”
