Eleagnus ebbingei....... not a very exciting name for a silvery-leaved shrub...but it does have tiny white flowers which have a wonderful sweet scent, just opening now.
Come to the 'sensory garden' (Madeline's garden) in Basingwell Street, sit on the benches at the corner and enjoy!

Some of the 11 beautiful gardens showcased in our Hidden gardens event in July - were you one of the people who had a wonderful day exploring them?
If so, we would love to hear from you if you can help BWIB by volunteering to help with all we do, or by sponsoring, if you are a local business. We are a charity and totally dependant on volunteers and fund-raising to keep the village looking good.

The last of this year's planting done this morning - the towers in Red Lion Street are now full of colourful Geraniums. The sponsored planters for the High street area will arrive from the nursery soon, then we're all set up, over to our lovely Volunteers to maintain them for the summer!

Well, it's that time of the year again - over the last week or so the beds have all been planted, and the baskets are up in the centre of town.....so I should be posting photos of our amazing volunteers at work as usual.....but all my photos of the hard work have vanished from my phone!! Disaster! 😥
Nevertheless, a particularly big THANK YOU to the small band of helpers who turned out in the tropical temps of the Bank Holiday weekend to get everything safely in the ground and also to our waterers who somehow managed to keep everything alive and well right through the exceptional heat.
YOU ARE ALL AMAZING !!!!

HELP!
Could you spare an hour or two next Saturday, 16th May to help us prepare the flower beds for planting?

No great garden expertise needed, just bring a hand or digging fork and plenty of enthusiasm to the Palace walls at 9am to clear the weeds and old daffodil leaves and fork over the soil ready for planting the flowers on the 25th May.
See you there!😃💐

A very, very big thank you to Swanmore Property Services for a brilliant repair to the damaged planter in Red Lion Street today to keep the Hyacinths going until we replace in May. Our grateful thanks also go to Equestrian fencing and timber ltd who generously donated the wood for the job.
We are lucky to have the support of local firms for what we do!🥰🪻💐
