Exciting project to be involved with and great news for Atherton town centre

*****NEW RESTAURANT & COCKTAIL BAR*****

Hi Everyone!

We are pleased to announce that plans have just been submitted to Wigan Council to seek permission to open a new restaurant and cocktail bar in Atherton.

The restaurant will be situated in the building of the old Natwest Bank at 1 Market Place and the cocktail bar will be situated next door in the old Natwest banking hall. They will be linked to each other via a corridor.

Both buildings are beautiful turn of the century examples of Atherton’s historic past, and unfortunately over the years, like many other great buildings in the town, they have been left vacant and fallen into a state of disrepair having a negative impact on the area.

If successful with planning, we hope to be able to invest money into these buildings and bring them back to life. We are passionate about retaining the heritage of the buildings and as they are in a conservation area, sensitively restore them and protect all their original features.

It has taken many months just to get to this stage and no doubt will take many more before we can “reopen” the bank doors to the public. We expect that the cocktail bar will be open before the restaurant as there is a lot more restoration work to be done inside the old bank.

The restaurant will be named “The Grill at No1” and we hope to bring good quality traditional food back to Atherton without people having to travel out of town for a decent steak.

The cocktail bar will be named “The Cabinet” in reference to the building’s main internal feature, a set of old wooden filing cabinets, which will be retained and kept as the main focal point in the building. We are looking to provide a space where people can come and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine in a relaxed atmosphere.

We hope to have a positive impact on the area by reviving these old buildings and creating lots of job opportunities for the town.
