From rough boards to this 🪵

Our latest four-door sideboard in solid American black walnut, fresh out of the workshop.

Every stage happens under one roof here in Boston, Lincolnshire. We pick the boards from our rack, machine them, and check them with the callipers, because near enough isn’t good enough. Then we glue up the carcass, hand-build the splayed-leg base, sand everything by hand and finish it.

The details:
▪️ Solid walnut throughout, no veneers
▪️ Grain matched across all four doors
▪️ Slim brass pulls
▪️ Adjustable shelving inside
▪️ Tapered, splayed legs on a separate base frame

This one's for the wall that's currently doing nothing. Our Solid Oak Vertical Wall Shelf stands about a metre tall but only needs 44cm of width, giving you organised storage at eye level without eating into the room. Works well in a hallway, kitchen or bathroom. Solid oak, natural or dark oak hard wax oil finish. Handmade in Lincolnshire, delivered fully assembled. Shop at kohba.co.uk.

Mornings are getting darker along with the evenings, so a bedside table that earns its keep matters more. The Elm American Oak Horizontal Side Table holds a lamp, a book and a glass of water without feeling cramped, in solid American oak with a hard wax oil finish. Works equally well as a compact sofa-side table. 4 widths from 50cm to 80cm. Handmade in Lincolnshire. Shop at kohba.co.uk.

A practical one for the kitchen: our Tiered American Oak Shelving Unit steps back progressively as it rises, so nothing at the back gets lost behind what's in front, and it's wall-fixed so it won't tip when fully loaded. Choose from 2 to 5 tiers depending on how much you need to display — herbs and oils in the kitchen, or towels and toiletries in a bathroom. Solid American oak, hard wax oil finish. Handmade in Lincolnshire. Shop at kohba.co.uk.

With it dark by six, the sofa's getting a lot more use. Our American Oak Floating TV Unit keeps the floor clear underneath — just 19cm deep, mounted flush to the wall — so there's room for a rug and a blanket right up against it. 16 width options from 50cm to 200cm, natural or dark oak. Made to order in small batches in our Lincolnshire workshop. Shop at kohba.co.uk.

Not everyone wants to style open shelving every week — which is exactly why we made a closed version of the Bodhi sideboard. The Bohdi Walnut Sideboard With Doors has four doors concealing the contents, a serving surface at 80cm high, and the same solid black walnut and hard wax oil finish as the rest of the range. Available in 7 widths from 140cm to 200cm. Handmade in Lincolnshire, delivered fully assembled. Shop at kohba.co.uk.

Bathrooms and boot rooms are usually the smallest spaces in the house, which makes the shelving choice matter more, not less. Here's an edit built for exactly that: a narrow Vertical Tiered Shelf for an awkward gap, a Tiered American Oak Shelving Unit (its steps back progressively so it won't tip when loaded) for towels or toiletries, and a Side Access Oak Shelf for anything that needs to stay tidy but within reach. All solid oak, all wall-fixed and made to order in Lincolnshire. Shop the shelving range at kohba.co.uk.

Proof that a small piece can still be a proper piece of furniture: our Solid Oak Vertical Tiered Shelf is just 15cm wide, designed for the awkward gaps between a window and a wall that nothing else fits. Tiered shelving for candles, plants or bottles, solid oak with a hard wax oil finish, handmade in Lincolnshire — and one of our best-reviewed pieces. From £90. Shop at kohba.co.uk.
