The long road from antique pine to 48 years of furniture fame! 🪵✨

Let’s take a little trip down memory lane... 🕰️

Back in 1977, Vic & Judith Edmunds opened a quaint little corner shop on Southgate Street called The Pine Shop. It was the era of flared jeans, and guess what? Pine was just becoming the next big thing! The locals loved it ~ antique and re-production pine furniture was flying out the doors🌲

Here is how the dream team evolved:

1977: When it all began. A little corner shop created with love.

The 80s: Vic & Judith’s son, Peter, joined the crew. He shifted the focus from antiques to top-end pine furniture. Homely vibes = unlocked. 🛋️

The 90s: Peter started designing and importing bedroom collections from Indonesia and Bulgaria.

2001: Enter family friend Sam Clarke! He brought serious expertise in tables, chairs and some special polishing wizardry. 🪄✨

2004: Our first foray into the digital world with the release of a sparkly new website (post dial-up!)

2013: Peter & Sam & Hannah embarked on the ultimate business venture, joining forces to officially create the Edmunds Clarke Furniture you know and love today! 🤝

2026: Hurtling towards 50 years of success, we are now selling bespoke painted furniture all over the UK.

Our roots in Bury St Edmunds run deep, and we couldn’t be prouder. For us, this is so much more than furniture—it’s decades of hard work, attention to detail, and an amazing team that has grown into a family alongside our incredible customers.
