Some amazing vintage pieces heading to Etsy.

Both of the 60s “Midwinter” ranges. The sauce boat and serving dish by Jessica Tate in the Spanish Garden pattern whilst the coffee set are in the rarer “Madeira” pattern.

They’re here, they’re here!

It really is the most wonderful time of year.

I think I have reversed seasonal affective disorder as I love the dark gloomy days.

Don’t get me wrong I love the summer sun but not as much as the gloomy days where the little lights are on and candles are lit.

I love the snow, I love the cold frosty days ans the dark nights.

Who else is with me on this??

Batch cooking…..

Are you a fan or a can’t be arsed kind of fan?

I totally fit into the latter category BUT I shop intentionally.

Sweet potatoes- either for soup, Wilbur’s dinner or jacket spuds
Tomatoes - salsa, pasta sauce, salad
Carrots - soup, grated into mince, salad, carrot cake, or as a veg (Wilbur’s dinner too)

Mince… add grated courgette and carrot with tomatoes and stock. Bolognaise one day add chillis and kidney beans a couple of days later. Plenty hidden veg.

Roast chicken? Make the left overs into a pie with some cooking bacon from Lidl or Aldi. Add some garlic, leeks and herbs into either a lasagne sauce jar or a homemade white sauce and some puff pastry. Have some stuffing leftover, add that too.

Cooking isn’t that difficult and repurposing the left overs is even easier! Just add some herbs, spices and a bit of imagination and we are banging!

What a fabulous day it’s been!

The sun’s been shining and we went to Welton Dog Walking Field with the boys. Naturally I had a cuddle with the alpacas. (They are really getting used to my me and recognise my voice)

Nick picked me some rosehips which was the kick up the bum I needed to pick some more. Then I found even more, so tomorrow I am off to get them!

Met a neighbour in the back lane as I was picking brambles and she said she would drop me some allotment goodies off… flipping heck that’s a monster of a courgette.

And lastly I made the chai spice mix that I have used in my macerated bramble syrup.

Now I have never done it this way so let’s see how it goes… basically it’s 1.5 tbsp of sugar to 1 cup of brambles stirred well and left!

Oooh that wasn’t lastly… I made some bread dough as well. Just letting it do its think and I will bake it later!

Tell me what you been up too?
