🌿 PROJECT CASE STUDY | PORCELAIN LIFT & RELAY 🌿

Another project nearly ready for grout before final handover to the Renson gazebo & outdoor kitchen team 🔥

This garden has undergone a complete transformation to create a high-end outdoor living and entertainment space ready for summer 2026 ☀️

Materials used throughout the project:

▫️ Kandla Grey 600x900 porcelain to the lower kitchen & hot tub area, including tiers, paving and upstands
▫️ Anthracite 450x900 porcelain to the upper terrace and pathways

The contrast between the warm Kandla Grey and the sleek Anthracite porcelain has created a clean, modern finish throughout the garden 👌

Key features included:

✅ Premium porcelain paving
✅ Tiered garden construction
✅ Porcelain upstands & coping details
✅ Linear drainage systems
✅ New bay fencing installation
✅ Preparation works for luxury gazebo & outdoor kitchen installation

However, this project also required a full lift and relay of the upper Anthracite porcelain terrace due to major failures from a previous installation ❌

During excavation we uncovered several issues including:

▫️ Delaminating and lifting porcelain
▫️ No slurry primer or bonding mortar used
▫️ Paving not installed on a full mortar bed
▫️ Freeze-thaw capillary movement beneath the slabs
▫️ Inadequate sub-base preparation
▫️ No geotextile membrane installed
▫️ No structural footings or blockwork to support porcelain upstands
▫️ Upstands only fixed with mortar adhesive

Unfortunately, the client has had to pay twice to achieve the correct installation standard.

This project highlights the importance of correct groundwork, preparation and installation methods when working with porcelain paving systems.

The cheapest quotation is not always the best quotation.

We worked with the client to create a design before creating this stunning outdoor space! 🌳 🌴🌲🏡🌞
