True You Coaching: Trauma-informed Transformational Coach For those who want more than surface-level change. I’ll be taking on clients once I’m fully qualified. Counselling often focuses on the past.

I work in a calm, grounded way, shaped by Counselling, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Transformational Coaching. I’m Becky - and I work with people who look like they’re doing fine on the outside, but feel stuck, lost, or quietly exhausted from holding it all together. I’m currently training in transformational coaching with Paseda360 and Internal Family Systems, qualifying in summer 2026. Traditional coaching tends to look at the present and the future. My coaching works across all of it - because that’s how humans actually work. Our past experiences don’t stay neatly behind us. They shape how safe we feel, how we relate to others, how we make decisions, and whether we trust ourselves today. And without understanding that, moving forward can feel forced or frustrating. You don’t need to have lived through a huge, life-changing trauma for something to have left an imprint. Many people I’m drawn to work with have spent years people-pleasing, staying small, or living in survival mode without realising it. On the surface, life looks fine. Inside, something feels off. This work gently helps you understand how you learned to cope - with compassion, not blame - while supporting real change in the present and clearer choices for the future. Nothing here is about fixing you. It’s about understanding yourself, reconnecting with who you really are, and moving forward in a way that feels steady, grounded, and true. If any of that feels familiar, you’re very welcome here 🤍

Meet Little Miss Overthinker. 👋

She sends a perfectly normal WhatsApp message. Then she sees...

Read.

No reply.

Five minutes pass.

Maybe they're busy.

Ten minutes.

Was I too much?

Twenty minutes.

What if they're annoyed with me?

Half an hour later she's reread the entire conversation, analysed her choice of emoji and is having a full internal debate about whether to message again.

In IFS, we wouldn't tell Little Miss Overthinker to stop overthinking.

We'd get curious about the part of her that feels it needs to.

Because underneath all that analysing, predicting and replaying, there might be a protector working incredibly hard to make sure she isn't rejected.

That she hasn't upset anyone.

That the relationship is still ok.

That she's still connected.

Somewhere along the way, she may have learnt that noticing tiny changes in people's moods, anticipating what might happen and working out what other people were thinking helped her feel safe.

So the overthinking isn't necessarily the problem.

It's a strategy.

And rather than asking:

“How do I stop overthinking?”

IFS might ask:

“Why is this part there?”

And...

“What does the part of me that overthinks believe would happen if it stopped?”

I'm well aware that IFS can sound a bit bonkers.
Talking to different ‘parts’ of ourselves isn't exactly the kind of therapy most of us grew up hearing about.

The first time someone tells you to close your eyes and ask your people-pleasing part what it's frightened might happen if you say no, it's perfectly reasonable to think:

Sorry… I'm doing what now? 😂

But does it really matter how strange something sounds if it helps?

IFS isn't some random thing I've stumbled across on the internet.

Some of the leading trauma experts highly endorse it too....

Someone asked me earlier on here what qualifications I had to do what I do.

It was more than a fair question.

Coaching is an unregulated industry. Technically, anyone can wake up tomorrow, call themselves a coach and start charging people money.

That doesn’t sit comfortably with me. Especially when you’re working with people’s childhood experiences, relationships and deeply rooted emotional patterns.

So yes, I’ve trained.

✅️ I’m a qualified IFS Practitioner with the OneSelf Institute. (rebranded to 'Unfolding Self') In person training.

✅️ I’ve completed specialist training in narcissistic abuse codependency recovery, with Caroline Strawson.

✅️ Counselling concepts with Macclesfield College. In person training.

✅️ Somatics trauma and psychedelics integration training with the

➡️ I’m also due to complete my PASEDA360® COACH TRAINING ACADEMY Advanced Practitioner qualification in transformational coaching, which includes training in Havening, Limitless Light Therapy and the Stop Being Stuck process. Graduation is in September 👩‍🎓

➡️ I'm also halfway through my CPD certificate with Life Architect for more Internal Family Systems training in relationship coaching.

And I'll continue to invest in reputable, qualified training for as long as I practice.

Over the past two years, I’ve invested more than £12,000 and completed over 700 hours of specialist training and professional development.

But I don’t believe a collection of certificates automatically makes someone good at this work either.

You also need self-awareness, and you need to have done your own work on yourself.

You need to know where your role begins and ends, and be honest enough to say when something falls outside your scope.

And you need to remember that the person sitting opposite you isn’t a problem to be fixed. They’re a human being who has usually spent years finding clever ways to survive things they didn’t yet know how to process.

My qualifications matter to me. So does the fact that I understand much of this work from the inside.

Not because my experiences make me an expert on anyone else’s life.

But because they’ve taught me how important it is to feel safe, heard and never judged while you begin making sense of your own.

So I more than welcome questions about my training and qualifications. I’m proud of how hard I’ve worked for them.

And I’m proud of the difference this work is already making.

- S*x addiction isn’t because you’re h***y.
- Food addiction isn't because you're hungry.
- Work addiction isn’t because you love your job.

There’s usually something underneath the behaviour that it’s trying to soothe, numb or protect you from by giving you extra dopamine hits.

It doesn't look for long term strategies, it wants immediate relief from the pain of the trauma sitting inside.

In IFS, we never shame the behaviour. That only makes the part work harder.

Instead, we get curious.

➡️ When did it first take on this role?

➡️ Why did it need to?

➡️ And what is it trying to change, numb or help you escape from?

The behaviour makes more sense when we understand the pain beneath it.

And we can then look to help heal the original wound, rather than just put a temporary sticking plaster over it.

If you could sit with yourself as a child, would you?

Would you want the opportunity to tell her that none of it was her fault?

That she wasn’t too much.

She wasn’t too sensitive.

She didn’t need to be quieter, easier, better behaved or more useful to deserve love.

Would you tell her that you’re sorry she had to grow up so quickly?

That she shouldn’t have had to carry the feelings, worries or responsibilities of the adults around her?

Would you hold her and tell her that she is safe now?

That she doesn’t have to keep everyone happy.

She doesn’t have to earn her place.

She doesn’t have to be perfect anymore.

This is, essentially, what I do.

Inner child healing.

Yes, I know. It can sound a little woo-woo.

But really, it’s about turning towards the younger parts of you that are still frightened, still hurting, or still trying desperately to protect you.

It’s about offering them the understanding, comfort and reassurance they needed then, but perhaps never received.

Not so you can stay in the past.

But so the past no longer has to keep showing up in your present.

Because that little girl is still there.

And perhaps she’s been waiting a very long time for you to come back for her.

There’s a pattern I often see in clients who have, or have had, “difficult” people in their lives.

The other person can be loving, warm and wonderful until their rejection or abandonment wounds are triggered. They say no, disagree, set a boundary or become a little more independent, and suddenly the mood changes.

Their independence isn't seen as independence, it's seen as rejection.

The warmth disappears. There may be guilt-tripping, criticism, anger, gaslighting, control or silence. They're then left wondering what they’ve done wrong.

So they over-explain. They apologise when they haven’t actually done anything wrong. They soften the boundary and try even harder to restore the connection.

Basically, they abandon themselves so the other person won’t abandon them.

This is often what happens when one person responds to their fear of being left by trying to regain control, while the other responds to that same fear by pleasing, adapting and making themselves smaller.

And this is why understanding and healing your own wounds matters. It can stop you being pulled into the same kinds of dynamics again and again.

Unless the other person is willing to look honestly at their own wounds and take responsibility for their behaviour, they’re unlikely to change. And however painful it is, we can’t do that work for them.

The only person we can change is ourselves.

Not because we caused the problem. Not because we did anything wrong.

Because we deserve relationships where love doesn’t come with control, punishment or fear.

We deserve love that allows us to have boundaries, to disagree and to be fully ourselves.
