Before IKEA, before Allen keys, before anyone had ever said the words "some assembly required" someone was already building furniture this cleverly.
This little wall-mounted or freestanding shelf comes apart entirely by hand. No nails, no screws, no glue. Just wooden wedges driven through the side panels, holding the whole thing together. Knock them loose and it's flat for moving. Tap them back in and it's solid again.
It's had a hundred plus years of life already. Now it's had a bit of gentle cleaning and is ready for a new home. Three shelves' worth of books, plants, or trinkets, and a lovely bit of carved detail on the crest rail.
