What are the principles of good kitchen design?
A kitchen should never be planned around finishes and storage alone.
Every kitchen design should begin with two questions: is it positioned in the right place within the property, and is the layout optimised for daily life?
For this country house in Hampshire, the cabinetry was removed from the external wall to make way for a panoramic window below worktop height, opening up views across the terrace, lake and surrounding woodland.
The island and sink were positioned directly in front of the window, allowing these views to be enjoyed while preparing food and clearing away — everyday activities that account for much of the time spent in a kitchen.

Set within our clients’ clifftop holiday home in Dorset, this principal suite was designed to feel both elegant and playful.
The walk-in wardrobe and ensuite are revealed through a full-width sliding partition, detailed with bronze lacquered aluminium fluting and mirrored glass surfaces, bringing a refined sense of elegance to the space. In contrast, the multi-coloured wallpaper feature wall and blue tones add personality, playfulness and a subtle connection to the coastal setting.

Being the third new-build project with this client, we had a clear understanding of how the family lives day to day and what they value most. The brief was to create a kitchen, dining and lounging environment tailored to their lifestyle — a space for breakfast, family meals and longer evenings, all held within one continuous room.
The result balances contemporary symmetry with classical detailing, creating a calm and considered space shaped around everyday life.
