Hand made beds using only sustainable timbers which are either coppiced or from certified timber suppliers. Mattresses are hand made using wool from sheep that are reared on Dartmoor.

Our Story

We have been producing our hand made wooden beds in the heart of the Devon countryside for over 20 years. We have hundreds of satisfied customers throughout the U.K. and Europe. All our bed frames are made using sustainable timbers and eco friendly wood finishes. We make all sizes including single, double, king size and super king size. We also sell luxurious pocket sprung hand made mattresses that are filled with Dartmoor sheeps wool.

All of our beds are really easy to assemble.

All of our finishes have either zero or very low rated VOC content.

In any manufacturing process there will be some waste produced. We have two main areas of waste to deal with and we have adopted the following which, we believe, are the most environmentally-aware and effective.

1. Timber off-cuts.
These are burnt in wood burning stoves to heat the workshops.

2. Shavings and sawdust generated by the woodworking machinery.
These are given to a local stables to be used as horse bedding and will eventually be returned to the soil.

To ensure that the production of our furniture has minimum impact on the environment we follow our own strict guidelines at all stages of manufacture – from living tree to finished bed.

In our Classic River range of furniture the timber used is Scandinavian Redwood. White Wood is used for the slats.Our suppliers for this have their own very strict timber management policy’s and all timbers are certified.
